Location: Ocelot Print Shop, 3535 Cass, Detroit

Instructor: Angie Coe

This hands-on workshop introduces the full screen printing process on paper, from start to finish. As a group, students will collaborate to design a two-color poster, then print it together while learning each step of the process. Each student will contribute a unique element to a pre-made design, simplifying the creative process and allowing the class to focus on mastering printing techniques in a fun, low-pressure setting. Whether you’re building a foundation in screen printing or simply trying something new, this workshop is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refresh their skills. You’ll leave with a custom two-color poster unique to your class and a solid understanding of screen printing basics.

By the end of the workshop, students will:

  • Collaboratively design and print a 9”x12” two color poster to take home

  • Learn hand-drawn and stencil techniques to create images

  • Prepare screens for the printing process using emulsion in the darkroom

  • Choose and mix colors, learning the fundamentals of color layering

  • Learn how to register two-color prints and make prints on paper

  • Reclaim and clean screens for future use
